Ex-MBGN Adaeze Igwe-Yobo: ‘ 12AM Marriage and Growing up!

2008 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Adaeze Igwe is married to footballer Joseph Yobo… In a recent chat with blogger Blackheroesport , she spoke about pregnancy, the separate lives of a beauty queen and mother, marriage with a footballer – how they met and insist the quick marriage wasn’t because of his financial status. She can’t explain why she loves Joseph Yobo and she dives into her childhood too. She said: Funny enough, we never knew each other before we met; it was along the line that we started talking. I knew who Joseph Yobo was, but I couldn’t place the face with the name. Check the entire interview below:
How is it like being a mother?
It is beautiful. I’m actually rushing home to my son because he is so used to me. It is nothing that I expected to be really difficult. I’m used to it now and I’m loving every bit of it.
How did you feel at the early stage of the pregnancy?
The early stage was very annoying. I didn’t know what was going on; my movements and moods totally changed. To me, it’s the most difficult time but after a while, I got used to it. The mood swing was the annoying part.
What is the comparison between now and when you were a beauty queen?
There is no comparison whatever. It is like one to 10 and moreover, I’m more exposed now. I respect my family and my mum. It is not easy to have two babies at home; my husband and my child. So, it is very difficult. You have to be understanding, take it step by step. It is so much fun to be able to have two people who respect me and expect me to be not necessarily like his mother because my mother always expect me to do my motherly duties. Now I take care of my son and my husband and I’m surprised at myself that I’m not frustrated. It is just God’s grace and I’m loving every bit of it.
How does it feel getting married to a footballer?
It is not bad as I thought it would be. There are so many events they go for that we have to go together. It is something very beautiful and I never expected it to be fun because everyone had always said you had to be careful of this and that; you can’t get married to this kind of people, but it’s been fun and I have no fear about the marriage.
Going into marriage at your age is always associated with some challenges. What are some of the challenges you went through?
I did not experience anything; I just fell in love with my husband and I got married to him. I give him my heart so I have nothing to lose. Also before then, no one had asked for my hand in marriage. I know God was behind it. So, there was no fear. Even when I got into the marriage, there were no challenges apart from the fact that I got pregnant immediately.
How about school?
Definitely, school is never a problem. I was at the New York Film Academy before I got pregnant. I have my diploma, so anytime I’m ready to go back, I will go back and start from where I stopped.
Do you always travel with your husband?
Internationally yes, but I don’t check in where he plays. I just leave him because it’s just two days, but now that I’m in Nigeria, I came with him for the match they had and when he left, I decided to stay back with my mum for a while.
We have had several celebrity marriages hitting the rocks. Was it one of the things you considered before getting married to Yobo?
I never looked in that direction maybe because I was naive. I never had that fear; my husband was ready to get married and we did.
Also, they call you names like gold digger because you married a footballer. Are you really one?
Yes, I know about all that. Everyone will always have something to say. What is not good about him and why can’t people say I got married to him because he has a good body or that he has a good sense of humour? Why would it have to be on the negative side? Why should I say yes to him because he is wealthy? That was the least thing on my mind. I don’t come from a poor home and I never lacked anything in my life. Funny enough, we never knew each other before we met; it was along the line that we started talking. I knew who Joseph Yobo was, but I couldn’t place the face with the name. We know how we met; what people say doesn’t matter. I can be a gold digger, whatever they want to call me.
Does it not bother you?
It doesn’t bother me. People who say that kind of thing have nothing to say. Having been in the limelight for awhile and at home taking care of my family and people are talking about me being a gold digger, that is their problem. It is just a stepping stone to another level in my life. So, if they want to keep talking about that, they should go ahead, it is not important. I don’t know why they won’t mind their business, they just sit at home and gossip about others.
Oh, so?
What time do I even have to know if he was actually that wealthy or not. I knew nothing about him. Everything went so fast, he was ready to settle down; he proposed and I accepted.
Oh, that could be the reason then?
Wedding day.
But we dated for awhile though not that long and before I knew it, he was ready to get married to me, ready to see my family and that was it. Quite alright, it was like a movie, but they have their mind to think whatever they want. I just know that we’re the two people involved in it, so, I don’t owe anybody any explanation. With or without the money, I’m still going to love him and he is going to love me. By God’s grace, we will stand anything that comes our way.
So, how did you meet?
We met through a friend; we started chatting, and before I knew it, we got closer. When you find your man everythieverything falls in place. I just dropped the crown and was ready to go into the world; because when I had the crown, my movements was restricted and that was the time I wasn’t even thinking about marriage. I was thinking about which school to go to, use my platform to do other things, go into whatever talent I want to go into. How did he propose to you?
He proposed at the Heathrow Airport. I was in London and he came over and gave me an engagement ring there, but before then, when we met in Nigeria, he gave me a promise ring. I broke the news to my mum and we started planning for the wedding because there was no time. I got pregnant and we had to hasten everything.
So, you wedded at midnight because of the pregnancy?
No, I was already big. We did because there was no point doing a big wedding. At first, I was planning a big wedding, but after I spoke to him and he said we didn’t have to have a big wedding, I agreed with him.
We learnt your pastor advised against a big wedding.
It is our private life. We had already known that there was going to be a lot of people with bad mouth and that a quiet wedding will keep them away from our family. I just wanted to have a quiet wedding between me, my husband and God. I never imagined having my baby before my wedding; how would that look like? He wanted a partner, companionship and he wanted me. I don’t know how it happened. I’m as shocked as everyone, but it happened. My eyes were wide open when I got pregnant; and now that it has happened, he is my husband.
Another story had it that you are a home breaker by snatching Yobo from another woman.
I don’t know about that part of him being in a relationship. All I knew was someone called my mum from Europe to say they used to see him with so many women. As a human being, he would get angry, but I tried to let him know that I didn’t really care. They are trying to make me angry and I’m not angry; why would you be? Whatever they say, I still love him. If he was in a relationship, which he said he was not, and after a while, he proposed to me, that does not make me a marriage or relationship breaker because he was not married. We’re married now; he has a family and a companion. I don’t see any reason why I should go to court over that matter.
Of all the men in the whole world, why do you love Joseph Yobo?
I don’t know; I can’t explain it. Even when I walked into the marriage, my friends were asking me, ‘How can you stay with a man for the rest of your life?’ For now, I just closed my mind from any guy; any man I see is like a woman to me now. My man is the only man in my life and my husband is everything to me. I don’t know how it happened but after God, he is the next person in my life. I fell in love with him; it is not as if I was lost in love because I’m still in love with him. Every single day I have a reason to love him the more, though we’re not perfect, we are still learning. I think we were meant for each other because of how it happened and everything surrounding it. No matter how confused people might be, I love him.
How was your growing like?
My growing up was fun. I was very close to my dad. I grew up in Anambra State and I went to Redemption Primary School, Onitsha. I was at Vivian Fowler Memorial College, Lagos, for my secondary school and went back to Enugu for my senior secondary school. After this, I went for a diploma in law at the University of Abuja from where I went for the MBGN and I won.
What is your definition of style?
Style is feeling comfortable in what you wear without feeling sorry for it. Style is not just what you wear, it is the way you walk, talk, everything about you. For me, style is my shoe. I pick my shoes before I pick my clothes.

Ten Benefits Of Maintaining Good Relationships

Strong positive relationships are essential to achieving our success – whether they are work relationships, family relationships or relationships with others in our communities. We’re in almost constant contact with others and we should make every contact an opportunity to strengthen our social skills and reinforce our relationships.
With that in mind, here are ten benefits for maintaining good long-term relationships:
1. Trust: Long-term relationships are based on trust. When we trust others, we are more relaxed, comfortable and willing to be ourselves without any pretenses or trying to maintain a facade of someone we’re not.
2. Acceptance: Once we experience trust with others, we can be honest about our weaknesses and shortcomings because we’re confident that we will be accepted for who we are, without judgment or criticism.
3. Support: Our lives go through many changes, some planned and some take us by surprise. In either case, they often take us out of our comfort zone and challenge us to grow and become more than we were before. Good, healthy relationships give us the support and encouragement we need to rise to new and different challenges.
4. A Kind Ear: Having someone who will listen non-judgmentally when you’re feeling down or frustrated and want to “vent” gives you the freedom to express yourself. Sometimes you just need to get something off your chest without feeling like you have to watch every word you say.
5. Understanding: When someone knows you well enough to understand where you’re “coming from” and instantly know the context in which you’re speaking, it’s easier to open up. Individuals in long-term relationships have a history of shared experiences that build a mutual understanding so they “get you” without a lot of explanation.
6. Someone to Call On When You Need a Hand: Everyone, from time to time, needs a hand from a friend, colleague, peer, or family member. This can be in the form of advice, a new job, or assistance with a particular project in which you need to call on another’s expertise.
7. Referrals and References: You can count on the people with whom you have a good relationship to give you a positive reference or referral – they’re more likely to be a good advocate for you and expound on your strengths and strong points.
8. Share and Celebrate: Celebrating with people who truly care about you and want celebrate with you when your life is going well, when you secured a promotion, or when bought your first house is a ton fun. Being acknowledged for your accomplishments is a rewarding experience and when you have good relationships, most want to be part of celebrating your success.
9. Reduced Stress: Sharing your life with friends and coworkers who you trust, who accept, understand and support you reduces stress because you have camaraderie and, therefore, less potential for interpersonal conflicts. Good relationships bring about the best in work teams and families by reducing the anxieties that cause stress and, at the same time, good relationships cultivate a sense of well-being and emotional security.
10. Happiness and Satisfaction: Having good relationships mean that there’s a mutual like for one another. Being around people you like and who like you create situations that are harmonious, supportive, and well, happy. You have an overall feeling of satisfaction in your life – be it at work, at home, or in your community.
Now, here are ten benefits others will receive from having a good relationship with you:
  • Trust
  • Acceptance
  • Support
  • A Kind Ear
  • Understanding
  • Someone to Call On When You Need a Hand
  • Referrals and References
  • Share and Celebrate
  • Reduce Stress
  • Happiness and Satisfaction
Did you notice that the list was exactly the same?
The strongest and best relationships are made when all parties give and receive. If you want these ten benefits for yourself, you have to give them to others.
Too often we look at relationships with a “what-do-I-get-out-of-this?” perspective. That’s not how good relationships work. It’s about give and take.
Think about what you want out of a relationship, then give it. You’ll be surprised at how much better your relationships become!

Kidnapping for brazilian weaves?

I just heard (and I keep telling them it's not possible) that a Unilag babe was kidnapped somewhere in the Magodo area of Lagos while visiting a friend. She was released a few hours later without the kidnappers asking her family for any ransom. Guess what they took from her? Her 22inch Brazilian weave. She claims they took her to an unidentified location, removed her weave and released her.

They are kidnapping for weaves now? Someone please tell me this lady made this story up ...like WTH? But people who saw her after the ordeal said the hair was truly gone.

LWKMD...it's not funny I know, but I can't wrap my head around it. As in...how cheap can some people get? LMAO
But seriously, can this happen?

Robbers Snatch Wizkid’s Car at Gunpoint!

The 20 year old yet-to-debut hit-maker was reportedly riding with his friends (an unnamed lady, and Wande Coal‘s younger brother) in his Black Honda Accord i-VTEC when the incident happened.
Multiple sources tell NET Wizkid was on Ikorodu road, (in Lagos) on his way home, when the robbery incident happened.
There was an accident around there, and the robbers made away with several cars’ an inside source, who pleaded anonymity because the label was yet to make any announcement, tells us.
While Wizkid’s friends were let off, the robbers made the singer accompany them to Third Mainland bridge, where they dropped him off and left him stranded.
‘They took everything he had on him, including his mobile phones, so he had to trek all the way from third mainland bridge, back to the mainland’ a friend and associate tells us.
The car in question, we understand is the controversial Honda believed to have been a gift from his friend Tonto Dikeh.

Why IJE was not nominated for AMAA 2011

When the list of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) nominations was released, many may not have noticed the omission of the movie ‘IJE’ on the list but those following the industry with keen interest surely did.
The Nigerian– American movie saw two of Nigeria’s biggest movie exports Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, whom many had regarded as rivals, come head to head.
To some, IJE served as that big break the Nigerian movie industry had so longed for. To others, it was beginning of a new era for the African movie industry as a whole. The movie’s near-excellent scripting, writing and production won the hearts of critics and Nollywood movie followers home and abroad. It was well publicized and was part of the first few Nigerian movies to become a box office hit.
Outside the continent, it received several nominations and honours. Some of which include ‘Best Editingat the Treasure Coast International Film Festival 2010 and ‘Best International Student Film’ at the Swansea Bay Film Festival 2010.
In fact, IJE is arguably the best Nollywood movie to be released in 2010, but the highly celebrated movie was nowhere to be found on the 2011 AMAA nominations list. Not even a starring role in the movie was nominated. So how could a movie as successful as that be omitted from Africa’s biggest movie awards; the Oscars of the continent?
Of course questions are being asked. And, as Ameboconnect reporters worked the phones over the weekend, what we discovered will surprise you: The producers did not enter Ije for AMAA. Simple.
A source who is familiar with the screening and nomination procedure for the respected award tells us ‘It’s not like the AMAA organizers have anything in particular against the movie, other than the fact that it failed to meet up with the selection requirements‘.
AMEBOCONNECT gathered that AMAA only considers movies that are submitted by right owners and does not compel people to submit movies. It always insists that right owners complete an entry form to submit their movies for consideration.
Again AMAA is an award scheme and not a festival where there are appointed curators who prospect films. To be nominated, actors must feature in a movie that is duly entered for, the movie starring them must be seen by the Board of International Juror and must have passed through the five stages of pre-selection, the last being the College of Screeners‘.
In a phone chat with Ameboconnect, the producer of IJE, Chineze Anyaeze admits the movie wasn’t submitted for reasons best known to her; reasons she termed ‘Professional’.
AMAA is something you submit you movie for but I didn’t submit IJE at all. It was just a professional decision’, Anyaeze tells us.
When quizzed further on what informed her (Chineze) decision, the phone call ended abruptly and further efforts directed at reaching her proved abortive.

2Face Idibia sued for breach of contract

A Music promoter; Happy Boys Entertainment Ltd, has filed a suit before a Federal High Court, Lagos against popular hip-hop artiste, 2Face Idibia, alleging breach of contract.

Also joined in the suit filed on September 29 2010, is Hypertek Entertainment Ltd, 2Face record label.
Sources reports that the promoter in his statement of claim had sought an order for enforcement of the contract agreement dated December 15,2008.
The plaintiff is also praying to the court for a refund of 25million naira paid as consideration under the contract agreement .
In his affidavit, Mr Muritala Alade-Bamgbala, CEO of the promotion company, alleged that the defendants granted him the exclusive right to market his album-“Unstoppable” throughout West Africa.
He alleged that he made a payment of 25million naira to the defendants being the sum agreed to under the contract.
“I paid the total amount by cheque and was duly issued a receipt to that effect by the defendants,” he said.
Alade-Bamgbala also alleged that upon the release of the said album in march 2009, the company was neither notified nor given the opportunity to perform its obligation under the agreement.
“I made several entreaties to the defendants to uphold their terms of agreement to no avail.
“I was very shocked and devasted to hear that the album was already on sale and being marketed by agents of the defendants,” he said.
According to him, the defendants have got the full worth of the plaintiff’s money and have converted it to personal use, disregarding the rules of the contract.
He urged the court to declare as  valid and binding agreement and that the defendants should perform their obligations.
The matter has been assigned to Justice Binta Murtala-Nyoo and comes up on March 28 for proper hearing.

NKENNA turns fashion designer

If you think Nkenna of BBA5 fame has faded into irrelevance.  Nkenna will soon launch her fashion label.
The Abia state born reality TV personality disclosed that march 19, 2011 is the day when she will unveil her label MOISELLE. The name for the soon-to-be launched outfit is taken from the shortened form of Mademoiselle the French word for ‘MISS’.
Not  wishing to give out much on the upcoming launch of her outfit, Nkenna said,” I don t want to give out much information. What I can tell you is that it will be a fantastic event. Other housemates that have never been to Nigeria or have never been seen by Nigerians like Hanington and yaqoub will all be there”. Sounding very much like the housemate of BBA that we all watched on TV, Nkenna said she has spent  millions of naira setting up her label, though she refused putting an estimate or figure spent so far. “I cannot give a figure because I have not sat down to calculate. What I am setting up is a pan-African brand that will be sold in Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and even in Europe. I already have an office in London from which my designs will be sold. I am working on having wide distribution like TM Lewin. But my clothes will be made with African.

What you need to know about the New Ipad2

What's the iPad 2's screen resolution?
Despite rumors that Apple would revamp the iPad's display, the iPad 2 sports the same resolution--1024 by 768 pixels at 132 pixels per inch (ppi)--as the screen on the original model. It's still, in Apple's words, a "9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology." (That's in-plane switching technology, in case you're not up on your abbreviations.)

What are the specs for the two cameras?
According to Apple's iPad 2 tech specs, the front camera--the one facing you when you're looking at the iPad's screen--is virtually identical to the front camera on both the iPhone 4 and the fourth-generation iPod touch: it can record VGA video (640 by 480 pixels) at up to 30 frames per second and can take photos at the same resolution.
The back camera is similar to that of the fourth-generation iPod touch, in that it can record HD-quality (720p) video at up to 30 frames per second, and take pictures at that 1280 by 720 pixel resolution; the camera also offers a 5x digital zoom. However, the iPhone 4 maintains its spot on top of the pack in terms of still images: its 5-megapixel camera produces substantially higher quality pictures (2592 by 1936 pixels) than what the iPad 2 or iPod touch can produce.

Speaking of cameras, will I finally be able to use FaceTime over 3G networks?
Nope. FaceTime is still available only over a Wi-Fi connection, regardless of what iOS device you're using.

How much RAM is in the iPad 2?
As with previous iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch models, Apple doesn't publish nitty-gritty specs such as memory amounts. We may have to wait until someone--such as our friends over at iFixit--actually takes a new iPad apart before we know if the new model has more RAM than its predecessor. We certainly hope so.

What about other hardware changes?
Perhaps the biggest hardware change, apart from the two cameras, is that the iPad 2 uses a new, dual-core processor Apple calls the A5. Apple says the A5 chip offers performance that's up to two times faster than the A4 chip inside the original iPad, despite running at the same 1GHz clock speed; graphics are nine times faster, according to Apple. All the while, the A5 consumes a similar amount of power as the A4 does. That means that despite the improved performance, the iPad 2 should maintain the same 10-hour battery life as its predecessor.

Like the iPhone 4, the iPad now features a three-axis gyroscope in addition to its accelerometer. The gyroscope allows for more-precise motion-sensing, including rotation around an axis. This feature is primarily of interest to game developers, who can use it to provide more immersive mechanics.
The iPad's enclosure has also gotten a makeover; the back is mostly flat, tapering only at the edges. The new iPad is also significantly thinner and slightly lighter than its predecessor--8.8mm and 1.33 pounds, compared to 13.4mm and 1.5 pounds for the original iPad. (We're comparing the Wi-Fi-only models here.)
Finally, there are also a couple minor changes you'll notice if you look closely. The iPad's built-in microphone, previously right next to the headphone jack, has been moved to the middle top of the backplate. And the Micro-SIM slot on the GSM 3G model has been moved up near the top of the left-hand side. (On the original GSM 3G iPad, it was about a third of the way up from the bottom.)

Is there a bigger speaker?
A bigger speaker is one of the features we'd hoped to see in an iPad revision. Unfortunately, Apple hasn't mentioned anything about an improved speaker. The opening for the speaker certainly appears larger on the iPad 2, but that could simply be a change in the casing, as the iPad 2's metal back is shaped differently than that of the original iPad. We'll know after we have more time to play music and movies on the tablet.

Does the new iPad have a Thunderbolt port?
No. As we mentioned in our FAQ on Thunderbolt, it's unlikely Apple's iOS devices will get Thunderbolt ports any time soon. Thunderbolt is a PCI Express-based technology, and iOS devices don't use a PCI Express architecture. It's also unclear what advantages a Thunderbolt port would have over the current 30-pin dock-connector port.

Are there different versions for GSM and CDMA 3G networking?
Yes, Apple will sell separate models for GSM and CDMA networks--AT&T supports the former, while Verizon will serve the latter. And that means there's actually a total of nine iPad 2 models: Wi-Fi and 3G/Wi-Fi models in three capacities each (16GB, 32GB, and 64GB), with the 3G models available in both GSM and CDMA versions. Interestingly enough, Apple's specifications page notes that the AT&T 3G model will weigh 6 grams less than the Verizon version.
Wait, did we say nine? It's actually 18--don't forget that each model will be available in black or white.

Will Apple be offering the original iPad at a lower price, as it often does with previous-generation iPhone and iPod touch models?
It doesn't appear so, as Apple is currently selling the Wi-Fi only and GSM 3G versions on clearance--rather than as a part of the new lineup--on the online Apple Store. If you're looking to pick up an original iPad on the cheap, now's the time to do it.

What's this about video mirroring from all apps? Does that include the Home screen?
Yep. A new video-mirroring feature is built into iOS 4.3, but the feature is available only on the iPad 2. Plug Apple's soon-to-be-released $39 Digital AV Adapter into your iPad 2's dock-connector port, and anything on your iPad's display can be mirrored on an HDTV, a video projector, or any other compatible video display using a standard HDMI cable. (The adapter also provides audio output.)
Unlike the current iPad video-out feature, which is available only from within a few specific apps, the iPad 2 can output all video at up to 1080p resolution (although Apple says movies will play at "only" 720p). This includes the Home screen, making the new iPad much more useful for demos and presentations.
Speaking of video output, will my favorite apps automatically get the new AirPlay video-out feature of iOS

4.3 on the iPad?
Developers will need to upgrade their apps to take advantage of the new AirPlay video output, so you'll have to wait until your favorite app gains this feature. That said, iOS 4.3 will bring AirPlay to Safari, which means that compatible video on the Web should work with AirPlay right out of the gate.
The new GarageBand app looks interesting, but does the new iPad's screen offer pressure sensitivity?
Sort of. Using the built-in accelerometer, the iPad can detect how hard you're tapping the screen (regardless of whether the iPad is on a table or you're holding it in your hand); however, this isn't a replacement for the kind of sensitivity offered by graphics tablets and higher-end music keyboards. All the same, it certainly helps add to the GarageBand experience.

Apple says the new iPad has magnets built-in. Magnets? How do they work?
Indeed, the iPad 2's enclosure hosts a number of hidden magnets designed specifically for attaching Apple's new iPad Smart Cover. The case--which is really more of a screen protector, as it doesn't protect the rest of the iPad's body--has a hinge that attaches to magnets on the edge of the iPad, and uses magnets on the front of the iPad 2 to stay closed. There's also a sensor inside the iPad that detects when the cover is closed or opened, automatically putting the iPad 2 to sleep or waking it up, respectively.

Can you use the new cover with the original iPad?
Unfortunately, no. Not only does the original iPad lack the built-in magnets needed to attach the case, but the Smart Cover's attachment brackets are designed specifically to fit the iPad 2's new tapered back.

Can I use my old case with the new iPad 2?
If your case is designed specifically to fit the original iPad, then you're likely out of luck--the new model's thinner, flatter shape will probably mean a poor fit. On the other hand, sleeves and slipcovers for carrying the original iPad will probably work just fine with the new model.

Does this mean I won't need a case at all for my iPad?
Well, that depends on you, really. The Smart Cover doesn't protect the back of the iPad 2 at all, so if you're worried about that aluminum getting scuffed and scratched (and anyone who has an original iPad has probably run into that problem), then you might want some other case. Rest assured, third-party vendors aren't about to throw up their hands and give up on making cases.

How much will the iPad 2 models cost?
As Apple has been known to do, the company is maintaining the same prices across the iPad line while adding features and capabilities. The 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB Wi-Fi-only models will sell for $499, $599, and $699, respectively, while the Wi-Fi/3G models will sell for $629, $729, and $829 for the same capacities, respectively.

So when can I get my hands on an iPad 2?
The iPad 2 will be available in the U.S. starting on Friday, March 11. On March 25, it will become available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. Additional countries will follow "in the coming months," according to Apple.

Great, where can I place my order?
Not so fast. Unlike in the past, Apple isn't offering any "pre-orders" for the iPad. You won't be able to actually place an order online until March 11. In fact, it seems like the quickest way to get a new iPad will be to buy one from an Apple retail store, where they will go on sale at 5:00 p.m. on March 11. Apple has a How To Buy page set up with information. Also, Apple hasn't given any indication of how many of which models, capacities, and colors will be available at launch.

Chairman of the Commitee Senator Jibril Aminu said: "Madam, this is not a joke at all that you cannot recite the National Anthem and the Pledge."

GistMe love to share the latest post from Mr Capable’s blog, The Bank Statements. If you’ve ever wondered about the details of BB Etiquette, let Banky W school you.
Thank him later…
PING!!!
It’s safe to say that almost everyone reading this is familiar with what that word above means… and if you aren’t… welcome to Earth! The Blackberry is one of the most common and most used communication devices today among young people. I love Apple as much as anyone, but let’s not even get into the #teamiPhone versus #teamBlackberry debate. Until you can BBM with an iPhone, we’re not hearing it (and please don’t bring up the whole whatsapp thing).
This post is mainly directed at BB users across the globe. I think the time has come for us to establish a simple set of rules for people who choose to use this device (I’m sure some of these rules will not work only for BB’s. Feel free to use where applicable for any other smartphones).
1) Broadcast Messages - I figure we should start here because this might be the singular MOST ABUSED feature on the Blackberry device. Ladies and gentlemen, there’s an occasional need to Broadcast a message to some or all of your contacts… however I must stress the word OCCASIONAL. It is supposed to be used sparingly, and only when it is important; infact, let’s break broadcast messages into three permission-categories. Yes, No and Maybe.
YES: Broadcast Messages that are permissible SPARINGLY, include (but are not limited to) the following contexts: “Please check out my business/website/Product”, “Vote for someone for this competition”, and the occasional Breaking News Fact that you need to share (but which you have verified) e.g. the Deaths of Michael Jackson and Da Grin. RIP.
NO:
Spam –
You should have to be smart to own a smart phone. For goodness sake, I beseech you to realize once and for all, that you pay a certain amount of money for BB service every month. Please note, this is ALL you will EVER have to do to show the Blackberry server you are active. I must emphasize that THERE WILL NEVER BE A MESSAGE THAT YOU MUST SEND TO ALL YOUR CONTACTS OR RISK DELETION. EVER. EVER. EVER. Every couple of months, the same stupid spam resurfaces, and the same people fall for it over and over again. This nonsense must stop.
Religious (or superstitious) Threats – “Forward this message to 10 people or else blah blah blah”.
Random greetings like “happy Sunday”, “happy New Month”, “Happy Monday”, “Goodmorning everyone”, etc. While we can appreciate that most of these have good intentions, they generally just come across as annoying. You don’t walk into a building and yell Happy Sunday/Goodmorning/etc on a loudspeaker to every occupant. The same principles should be applied the next time you have that urge to broadcast this.
Random facts about your day like “I’m about to board a plane”, “Just waiting for take off”, “Just Landed”, “About to have lunch”, “what Movie should I watch?”, etc. I shouldn’t have to explain this. Just stop.
SERIAL BROADCASTING: please note that sending one broadcast per day is too much, even if it falls under the YES category. A couple per week is plenty. No matter how important the message is to you, the chances that we want a broadcast from you every hour, or every day, are slim to none. Again, you just come off as annoying. Failure to adhere to this can and will result in your being deleted.
MAYBE:
Musicians, Managers and their Entourages: It’s okay to send a broadcast message every once in a while about your new single/album/video. It’s NOT okay to send one every time the song is playing on Radio, or the Video is on TV. It’s also not okay to abuse the privilege by sending the same messages repeatedly in a short amount of time. One or two is enough. Trust me we saw it the first time.
The occasional Joke that is REALLY funny. The danger with Jokes is that these days, many people have MANY contacts. So when you get the same joke 5 or 10 or 50 times, it’s annoying. So whatever joke you choose to share, please make sure it’s original, relatively new, or so damn hilarious that we won’t mind seeing it repeatedly.
Traffic or Emergency Alerts: These are always sent with good intentions, so we appreciate the thoughts behind them. However, too many times, there are no quantifiable measures in the messages, so they become spam. For instance, if there is a major roadblock (or an emergency situation), please also include the DATE AND TIME that this is occurring. I’ve gotten the same traffic/armed-robbery alerts for a week from different contacts… it’s either people are just resending the same messages days after the unfortunate incident occurred, or we’re witnessing record breaking traffic/robbery times. No armed robbery lasts for a week. Even Anini wasn’t that brave (inside joke to my Nigerian Friends).
2) Display Names
Your display name is totally under your control; feel free to call yourself whatever you like; it is your right as a blackberry owner. However, please be considerate of some of us who are trying to get a hold of you, but do not realize you’ve now spelt your name in Arabian or Greek Symbols. Some of us have a lot of contacts, and it’s really annoying when we’re trying to find you, only to discover you’ve changed your display name from.. say… Jane… to Jane spelt in Chinese, or “My luvlies”, or “a woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets – Mexico – madly in luv”. Henceforth, please try to ensure that your display name at least contains the name we know you by, in some form that is type-able when we try to search for you. Please note that the examples I listed above are actually 100% real, I did not make them up. Also, we realize that everyone can re-name contacts; but we shouldn’t have to do it just to keep track of you. Afterall, it’s just easier to delete your over-expressive self.
3) BBM Add Requests
The BBMessenger should not be mistaken for Facebook/Myspace/Twitter. Your BB Pin is actually specific to your phone, and thus should be viewed more like a phone number. It is private and should only be given out with your consent. You also probably shouldn’t attempt to add people who don’t know you and haven’t directly given you permission to. If you’re interested in someone, it’s always better to get their phone number directly from said-person, rather than to stumble on it somehow and call them out of the blue. The same principles should be applied with Pin Sharing.
4) Contact Deletion
People delete contacts for a bunch of reasons. Maybe they have too many contacts and are trying to clear space by removing people they don’t keep in touch with. Maybe they are tired of the 5,000 broadcast messages you send per week. Maybe they just don’t want too many people, or just you specifically, on their BB anymore. It’s okay to delete, and to be deleted. Times change; contact lists do as well. NO harm, no foul. There are many more people to chat with.
5) PING’s!!!
A conversation should NEVER be started with a PING!!! It is supposed to be used as a tool to gain attention when someone is not reading his/her messages. The proper protocol is to send one or two messages and THEN PING when your messages have not been read. Not the other way around. I realize this might not be a big deal to everyone, but it’s just… chat courtesy… if you will. It’s like typing in CAPS LOCK. It just feels like you’re shouting on line. Not necessary, and annoying.
There are many more rules we can add, and we may choose to revise this list as time goes on, but hopefully this is a good start to a more pleasurable experience for us all. Please spread the word. And Delete a Serial Broadcaster today.
Signed,
Banky W and other like-minds.
PS: Sooner or later, we’ll have to do a “Rules of Engagement” for Twitter and Facebook. Stay tuned. :o )~
PPS: Please never take me too seriously in these matters. I’m kinda just kidding. Kinda. But it’s food for BBthought. I didn’t mean to get anyone upset or offended. Just having fun AND trying to reduce the number of broadcasts I get everyday. Love y’all!

Another Blockbuster movie to hit the cinema soon: BLACK GOLD

Five years after establishing himself as a director of note with the award winning movie, AMAZING GRACE starring  joke Silva as one of the lead characters, the man Jeta Amata is set to record another blockbuster with his yet to be released movie, Black Gold.
Black Gold is an epic movie about environmental justice and the fight over the control of the scarce oil resources the world thrives on. In Black Gold, the line between good and bad is blurred as corrupt government officials, greedy oil companies and violent rebels go on warpath over oil spills and degradation of the land caused by oil exploration. The powerful story of greed, murder and corruption within Nigeria’s war-torn Niger Delta captures the turbulence coursing through local communities in the country’s oil-rich region.
Like Amazing Grace, the visual of Black Gold are so acute as almost to carry a smell, from the oi; polluted creeks and mucky habitats to the stench of corruption pervasive of local authorities. This landscape, beautifully rendered by Jeta Amata, is drenched in an artistic consciousness of punishment and reward, survival and death. Yet, in the end, Black Gold is less than the sum of its parts. It meanders along, convinced of its own idiosyncratic suavity  venturing out of its markers comfort zones.
Short on location in Nigeria and Los angles (Hollywood) America, the movie is packed with lively characters. Black Gold deftly blends a winning story with heaps of action while neatly avoiding a predictable climax characteristic of mostly locally made movies.
Starring Vivaca Fox, Billy Zane, Tom Sizemore, Eric Roberts, Michael Madsen, Hakeem Kae-kazim, Sarah wyne callies, Larry Minetti, Enyinna Nwigwe and Mbong Amata star in Nigeria’s most anticipated movie yet.
